Our AssessmentsWe provide a range of assessments for children and teens. Assessments are conducted within the practice over multiple appointments, which include an initial consultation and a feedback session.
The assessment options include:
Each assessment comes with a detailed report which can be forwarded to the client's paediatrician or GP. Once the assessment has been conducted, we can also assist families in finding ongoing support and appropriate external services. |
How Does an Assessment Work?
Assessments are conducted over a number of weeks and include multiple sessions with your psychologist.
Firstly, you will have a 50-minute "Initial Consultation" where your psychologist will ensure that we understand your requirements, get some background and history of your child, and discuss the assessment process in greater detail. Here we will also confirm fees and any rebates you may wish to enquire about with your GP or paediatrician, as well as a proposed timeline for the rest of the process. After the Initial Consultation, reception will organise the "Assessment Appointments" for your child. These appointments last for 100 minutes, and you will generally have between one and three of them depending on which assessment is being conducted. In most cases the appointments are scheduled one or two weeks apart, subject to your psychologist's availability. Finally, you will have a "Feedback Session" wherein your psychologist will present their findings to you in an assessment report. This report will serve as the results of the assessment, and can then be passed on to other professionals or service providers as required. The feedback session is scheduled a few weeks after the assessment has been conducted, which will give your psychologist the time to prepare their report. |
Assessment Cost and Rebates
The cost of an assessment will vary depending on the type of assessment being conducted, and are broken down into individual appointments, and the total report preparation cost. The consultation fees are payable prior to the commencement of each session, and the report preparation charge will be payable prior to its release by the psychologist.
Payment can be made via credit/debit card either in-person or over the phone, by bank transfer or with cash. You may be eligible for a rebate through Medicare, if a valid referral from your GP or paediatrician is provided prior to the commencement of the initial consultation. Please ensure to advise them that you are looking to have your child assessed, and they will provide you with the relevant information. |
